The Manukau Veterans Cycle Club has organised rides from the Ardmore Hall on Sundays.

Sunday Morning Club Rides:

Ride the distance you want at the pace you want...

START / FINISH POINT:

All rides start and finish at the Ardmore Hall unless otherwise stated.

START TIMES:

Groups of different abilities leave the Ardmore Hall at the times specified in the Ride Programme below.

DISTANCE GUIDELINES:

Long for experienced riders and include some moderate to hard climbs. Bring snack food and drink for on the ride. Allow 1 bottle of fluid per hour of riding. Bring spare tubes in case of a puncture(s). Usually 50 km to 70 km.
Medium for recreational riders and those wanting to raise their fitness level. Usually 30 km to 50 km.
Short for beginners and riders recovering from time off the bike. They are shorter rides of around 30 km to 40km.

SPEED GUIDELINES (average speed):

Slow 20 - 24 km/hr
Medium 23 - 27 km/hr
Fast 30+ km/hr

Sunday Morning Ride Programme:

You are very welcome to join our Sunday rides as a visitor for a short time (for example, 3 rides).
However, if you intend to join us regularly, we encourage you to complete a membership form and pay the $30.00 annual subscription. For those over 70 years of age, the subscription fee is just $25.00.
Membership forms are available at the Ardmore Hall each Sunday.

The Ride Fee is $3.00 (payable at the kitchen inside the Ardmore Hall every time you ride).
The Ride Fee helps cover the cost of tea, coffee, Milo, milk and biscuits at the conclusion of each Sunday ride.

We are delighted to advise that we are recommencing our Ride Programme.

From Thu 24 Sep, Auckland will be at COVID Level 2, so we still need to take care and keep to the following guidelines :
• The Ardmore Hall is restricted to a maximum capacity of 30 attendees. This shouldn’t be a problem as ride attendance this year has generally been below this level;
• Attendees must keep at least one metre apart;
• There will be an official QR code available. Please ensure you have downloaded the NZ COVID Tracer app and scan the QR code on entry to the hall;
• If you do not have a device then there will be a manual contact tracing sign-in sheet;
• Please DON’T come if you are feeling unwell. (This may be stating the obvious but needs to be said)

CLUB RIDING PROTOCOL

RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH INDIVIDUAL RIDER:

  • Preparation for a bunch ride,
  • Food and drink,
  • Able to change punctures,
  • Bike mechanical fitness,
  • Selection of group to ride with,
  • Knowledge of our bunch etiquette, (read more on bunch etiquette)
  • Being on time for their particular group departure,
  • Knowing the route they wish to ride on the day,
  • To talk to fellow riders who may not be complying to club standards,
  • Nurture any other rider who is struggling.
